Destini Bhd has teamed up with Indonesia’s PT Industri Kereta Api (PT Inka) to identify and pursue opportunities in the railway system business sector and infrastructure projects in Indonesia, Malaysia and the region. In a statement on Thursday, Destini said the state-owned PT Inka is the first fully integrated rolling stock manufacturer that has supplied to various countries globally including Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Bangladesh and Australia. Destini and PT Inka had on Wednesday entered into a heads of agreement in conjunction with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri’s official visit to Indonesia. Destini ventured into the rail segment by successfully delivering motor trolleys to Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) in 2018. Since then, it has been continuously exploring opportunities to expand its capabilities and footprint within the segment. In February 2021, Destini formed a joint venture with KTMB to explore business opportunities in the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services in the rail segment. Destini then entered into a memorandum of understanding with Siemens Mobility Sdn Bhd to explore MRO services of electrical trainsets in Malaysia. “This collaboration with PT Inka would further enhance the group’s capabilities within the rail segment as well as to position it to expand its footprint regionally. “The group believes that this partnership with PT Inka would contribute positively to Destini’s ambitions within the rail segment,” it said. Destini is an integrated engineering solutions provider with diverse interests in the aviation & defence, energy, rail systems and marine industries.
