Covid-19: 70 new cases, death toll at 109 as at May 11

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia reported 70 new Covid-19 cases on Monday (May 11), bringing the total number of infections in the country to 6,726.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah (pic) said out of the new cases, 31 were foreigners. There were 13 imported cases, while the rest were local transmissions.
“There are currently 20 patients being treated at intensive care units (ICUs) with seven on ventilator support," he said at his daily Covid-19 briefing.
Dr Noor Hisham said 88 patients were discharged in the same 24-hour span, which brings the number of recovered patients to 5,113 since the outbreak began.
The country's Covid-19 recovery rate is now at 76% out of the total number of positive cases.
There are 1,504 active cases being treated at the country’s health facilities at present.
There was one new death reported, bringing the death toll to 109.
The latest fatality was a 63-year-old Malaysian man (case 6,657) who had a history of cancer and diabetes.
He was admitted to Hospital Kuala Lumpur on May 8 and died on May 10.
