KUALA LUMPUR: Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) will reduce its Electric Train Set (ETS) and KTM Intercity services until May 17 given the spread of Covid-19.

KTMB chief operating officer Mohd Zain Mat Taha (pic) said eight ETS services will be operated instead of 12. “Each route will have two services. The routes are Gemas-Padang Besar; KL Sentral-Ipoh; and KL Sentral-Butterworth. “The services for the KL Sentral-Butterworth route are with business class coaches,” he said in a statement on Thursday (April 29).

There will be four Ekspres Selatan services in the Gemas-Johor Baru Sentral sector every day, compared to six previously, he added.

“The Timuran Shuttle at the Kuala Lipis-Tumpat sector is still running with 10 services. “Ekspres Rakyat Timuran will still operate two services daily from Thursday until Sunday,” he added.

Mohd Zain said the KTM Intercity service will operate with 16 services starting April 29 compared to 18 services previously.

“Passengers who are allowed to travel interstate may enjoy a RM10 discount using the CUTIKERETAPI promo code until June (this year) through online purchases. “Passengers who travel between Tuesday and Thursday during the Ramadan month can also enjoy a 25% discount by using the KTMRAMADHAN promo code,” he said.

Mohd Zain advised passengers to adhere to standard operating procedures (SOP) when using the train.

“The public should get the latest schedule for train operations online,” he said.
